Working 9 to 5: Thoughts from a BLP Practicum Student

BLP9-5BlogPost.jpg

For the past three months, I’ve been working for Bottom Line Productions as a practicum student. Let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster!

I was hired for social media management and campaign planning. During my time at BLP, I contributed to and managed several accounts. I worked on many projects and campaigns and worked with a variety of clients. Here at Bottom Line Productions, they trusted me with a lot of responsibilities (not before proving myself of course) but none the less, they did not treat me like a student, they treated me like an equal. During meetings with clients, they would ask for my opinion, let me create posts at my own discretion and plan entire social media campaigns.

Now if you're thinking, “wow! they let some inexperienced kid handle all that?” then you’ve missed my point. They trusted that I could apply the knowledge that I went to school for, and execute the project plans, and I did. I was not a coffee running intern that learned little and only has a name to put on a resume; I have legit experience in being in industry. Was it scary and stressful at times? Yes, did I feel unqualified and unprepared at times? Yes again, but I'm so grateful for the opportunity to learn just what I'm capable of doing.

I feel rewarded with all the amazing people I got to meet; small business owners, Shumka instructors and wave makers in the artistic community.

I truly believe that the team at Bottom Line Productions is as good as it gets. Not only as a business, but as people. They inducted me into their little club, and I felt welcomed.

Thank you Bottom Line productions for letting me be a part of something special.
